The Earth Day 2007
The Institute of Forest Ecology in cooperation with the Slatinka Association organised an event entitled “The Earth Day 2007”. The event designed for children from kindergartens, schoolchildren and young people from secondary schools took place from April 22 to April 25. In frame of the event, there was organised a trip to the water dam Môťová and the wetland Krpele with flowering the precious snake’s-head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris). During the trip, the attendees collected the rubbish from the surroundings of the water dam and from the tourist pathway. The children got acquainted with the nature by means of various plays. They learned to recognise things belonging to the nature (seeds, minerals, rocks, trees, plants, butterflies). During these days, the children also could provide with occasion to plant their own tree close to their school, separate garbage, build a domestic composting facility or manufacture a nest box for birds.
